How to Schedule Your Tweets

By Eric Vanbuskirk
Scheduling the exact date and time of ready-made tweets is crucial for anybody on Twitter. From power users spreading awareness of their content, to businesses announcing company promotions, there are countless creative ways scheduled tweets can be used. Interestingly, while applications like Twuffer and FutureTweets are established as the most popular choices for this purpose, they aren’t necessarily the most practical or well-integrated.

Tweetdeck by Twitter is a very good choice for increasing the flexibility and organization when you want to schedule your tweets. In addition  to scheduled tweets, Tweetdeck adds powerful features like the ability to filter your feeds which gives you complete control of what you see and when.  Tweetdeck also has apps for all smart mobile devices as well as integration with all major browsers.

Snaps, Batman! Look at that bird about to Tweet from the beta release of Tweetdeck in 2008! He sure would make a good Dark Knight companion! Thanks for scheduling tweets for four years now.

Tweetdeck gives you maximum organization anywhere you are.  And let’s not forget it has 100% access to the Twitter “firehose,” just as Google has with Google+.  That means you are seeing the most accurate real-time data possible.

Hootsuite combines all the functionality and practicality of Tweetdeck and does have some fantastic additional features. It has integration with all smart mobile devices and internet browsers, but Hootsuite can be used to schedule posts on Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+ and all major social networks. Additional features range from a custom ow.ly URL shortener, to customizable analytics that can be used both by businesses and power users to track or share the success of their social media with colleagues and consumers.

Hootsuite’s post organization and business-oriented features have over 3 million users including Time Magazine, Fox Network, and The White House.
