We all think it’s very simple, but it’s different in the workplace than it is when you’re communicating with your friends. The person that’s managing twitter for business marketing needs to understand what engagement’s about, and how to start a conversation on Twitter and other social media. One of the best ways to do that is the Connect area on Twitter. Here you can see if people have something to say about what you put on Twitter. For Example, I tweetted, Forbes get’s it “Why Twitter will live and Facebook will die.” I didn’t just share it, I added commentary.

This post is a summary of the video. Are your tweets lost in the woods? Social media for business is very different than for personal, out of work use. Smarter social media for your company means hiring a consultant that understands Twitter for marketing.
People want to see comments. They don’t just want a share of the tittle of a web page with a link. They want to see your commentary and comments. They’re just not used to people spending the time to add to simple “social bookmarking” 99% of the time and it’s ignore. Very quickly I got four ReTweets from adding comments that add my opinion to the share. If I’m doing that on behalf of a client, that’s four people they can now jump in and take over with building a relationship that’s about their products or services. I manage the account and get people to engage: they take it from there. There sales and marketing staff have soft leads from my tweets. It works.
